Key Club to College

Honestly anything can be for "college". Just because we volunteer with Key Club doesn't mean we're doing it for that reason only. With that same logic ANY club you volunteer with is for that ulterior motive. What makes Key Club so "special"? How is Key Club any different? Because we record our hours? Doesn't every single other volunteer organization do that too? I always thought it was good for an organization to keep statistics so that they know what kind of impact they're making and to keep it in mind to continue improving for years to come.
If you volunteer you want to do it out of the good of your heart? What does that actually mean? How do you actually gauge that? Do we have cruel intentions because we're willing to admit how many hours we've volunteered and be proud of it?
Why don't we volunteer because we want to? We do volunteer because we want to. Simple as that. Don't believe us? Look at our volunteers, look at volunteers in general. Sure some of them may not be doing it for such pure intentions but when you look into the eyes of those who truly mean it and love the service they're doing, it's undeniable. And if you've gone to any Key Club event, it's contagious.
Why do you have to record the number of hours you give back to your community? We record the hours because we'd like to know how many hours we served. It's that straightforward and simple. Wouldn't you? Because we record the number of hours we volunteered doesn't mean we're any less genuine.
Why do you have to put it on your college resume? Why do you put anything you do on your college resume? I don't think it's a bad thing. We've done it anyway out of the goodness of our hearts or because we want to and now here we are, ready to go out into the real world. And to find our best match college, I'd like them to know as much about me as possible, starting with how much I love to serve.
Why do you need a leadership position? Hmm leadership positions. Tricky. But the same can be said for anybody in any organization, why do you need a leadership position? And why is it such a sin for us to write down what leadership position we've had when you do the exact same. The only difference is that you don't have the words Key Club in front of "president."
